Collins, T. et al (2008) Supporting location-based inquiry learning across school, field and home contexts.
Teacher Librarians need to collaborate and select lesson content which motivates students.Collins explores how technology supports Inquiry learning ie: "acquiring intuitive, deep, conceptual knowledge"
(deJong,2006).
Inquiry learning is not just about learning facts, but forming questions and finding appropriate answers. It is student centred and student lead. Both Inquiry learning and the NSW model of the Information Skills process both focus initially on asking or defining.
PROJECT BASED LEARNING
Learning is active, student driven, uses technology as a tool to connect to the world even beyond the classroom. Students are so involved with technology, we as teachers and teacher librarians need to take risks to engage them.We are life long learners too, so lets get learning !!
Inquiry learning is a challenging venture. As we let technology take over some of the teacher role... ie supplying content, students can engage in Higher order thinking skills ( Blooms digital technology) and we can be scaffolding.
