More on leadership

There were lots of interesting readings on leadership. Saskatchewan Education "Adaptive leadership" focused on how "leadership makes teaching and learning happen, providing a sense of direction, energy, coherance"(p.1). I can recall examples of both good and bad leadership in my teaching career. The buzz in a workplace when leadership provides this is inspiring ... we tend to rise up to the challenge. However with a leader who lacks that drive, the reponsibility is pushed down the chain of command to inspire. As a teacher or librarian, we need to model this enthusiasm to our students to inspire them ... hopefully the joy we have in our job will be enough to do this, with or without the inspiring leaders!
