Matthews (2009) - be aware of the message your library is sending by its website, in appearance, functionality and impressions.
1. Promotion - promote events, collections, popular materials, services using a combination of banners, photos, videos, blog posts. refresh content regularly so it gives reason for people to return to your website!
2. Segmentation - communicate with users effectively
3. Visual cues - use icons to break up text
4. Inspiring photos - of the physical space, people,make a positive impression
5. Search boxes - even a tabbed search bar to limit choices to help users
6. Mobile friendly pages - users want portable nature of the library
7. Feedback - give lots of opportunitites for both concerns and compliments
8. Redundancy - lots of ways to search
9. Analyse - how the site is used ... what works
