This meant nothing to me until ETL504. The CBAM is a change
process model which can be used to bring change to a school in an effective way
so that all concerned feel that their views and concerns have been heard. My
experiences of change being applied in the school setting has mostly been …
here is what we’re doing. So I found this whole concept quite refreshing!!
Priscilla Curran concurred.( Mon 26-Mar-12 12:41 am)
“I have never been aware of a PD session or major change
that has been implemented by using a change process model. “
Susan Ramrakha posted a great clip to help with our
understanding of the CBAM model, (Fri 16-Mar-12 01:39 pm)
Isobel Klajn also posted (Mon 19-Mar-12 03:58 pm) an article
showing “how TL student's concerns
matured and changed as they progressed through their TL placement.”
Emma Wundersitz Date: Sat 24-Mar-12 09:45 pm brought up the
idea that “wouldn't it be great if CBAM
was used to implement the Australian Curriculum, instead of the education
department just expecting teachers to 'pick it up'”. Many agreed.
Celeste Fisher (Date:
Sat 14-Apr-12 02:42 pm) had not heard of CBAM either. She posted “That's what I
love about this course , I am constantly learning - and almost always what I am
learning makes sense to me. “ So true. She also agreed with Emma that the
process be begun at University so all teachers are on the same page.
Our lecturer Roy posted (Mon 26-Mar-12 10:06 am)“If we are
introducing something new to our students, we carefully plan how to address the
needs of the students in front of us to ensure that the 'message' is delivered
appropriately. When it comes to teachers, somehow it is expected, as you
rightly point out, that they are all at the same level of expertise and
knowledge. There is the old saying, "If we fail to plan, we plan to
fail" and this is true far too often. The result - the initiative usually
fades away fairly quickly.”
It was a very insightful module !!
giving tips on reading comprehension…. An excellent eg: of a
PD session.
